Alcoholics anonymous, better known simply as AA Is a group of men and women who have recovered from a seemingly hopeless state of mind and body.

The alcoholic should be considered an ill person.  The american medical association and many other authorities the world over have determined that the alcoholic suffers from an illness over which he or she has no control.  Alcoholism is not caused by weakness of the will, immorality or a desire to hurt others.

Alcohol is a drug, and potentially very dangerous.  Alcohol is the most misused drug in the united states.  It is probably abused by more people than all other drugs combined.  Because seven out of every ten adults drink alcoholic beverages, it is important that people practice responsible drinking.

Let's take a look at drinking in our society.  Most adult americans drink.  Why do they drink?  For most people, the reason is to help them relax, to entertain family and friends, and to fit into social groups more comfortably.

The problem of alcohol abuse and alcoholism is one of our major health and social problems, ranking along with cancer, heart disease, and mental illness.  Yet, emphasis on the treatment of alcoholism has been greatly neglected and does not reflect the seriousness of the problem.

The liver is one of the most important organs in the body.  It is located just under the lower rib cage in the upper 1/4 of the abdomen on the right side.  It is a large, soft organ and is intimately concerned with various digestive functions of the body.  It is closely associated with the formation of vitamin k in the body--that vitamin needed for proper blood clotting.
